Kitesurf lessons usually start between 9:30 AM and 6:00 PM. The exact time of your lesson generally depends on the weather conditions. It\u2019s important to arrive at least 15 minutes early so we can start on time! The indicated start time is when your lesson begins \u2014 not when you start getting changed (some people take 10 minutes, others half an hour).<\/span><\/p>\n

On average, it takes about 5 lessons before you can ride back and forth downwind. After these lessons, you\u2019ll be independent and able to practice on your own, as long as you have someone there to assist you. It\u2019s ideal to start with a friend so you can continue practicing together after your lessons.<\/span><\/p>\n

Taking kitesurf lessons is a valuable, and truly essential, investment. It ensures you\u2019ll have maximum fun and confidence later on when you hit the water with your own gear.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kitesurfing is a water sport where the kitesurfer stands on a specially designed kiteboard and is pulled across the water by a kite made specifically for kitesurfing. \u201cKitesurfing\u201d is the most common name for the sport. Someone who kitesurfs is also called a kiter or kiteboarder \u2014 these are the other popular terms for people who practice kitesurfing.<\/span><\/p>\n

We recommend starting with one good beginner kite!<\/span> It makes perfect sense. As mentioned, the ideal wind range for learning and practicing kitesurfing is between 11 and 23 knots (force 4\u20135). That\u2019s when the wind is usually the most stable and the water relatively calm. One kite combined with a twintip kiteboard is a great setup to begin with \u2014 and it also keeps costs down.<\/p>\n

If you already windsurf, snowboard or surf, you know how to balance on a board \u2014 but flying a kite is still something you\u2019ll need to get used to.<\/span><\/p>\n

Once you\u2019ve learned how to \u201cfly\u201d the kite and completed your first lessons, you\u2019ll progress quickly!<\/span><\/p>\n

Most of the power generated by the kite is controlled through your harness, not your arms. Plus, the kite tends to lift you onto your board, so you don\u2019t need to be extremely fit to practice. However, being in good overall health is essential.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kitesurfing is only as dangerous as you make it. If you choose weather conditions and equipment that match your skill level, it\u2019s not dangerous at all. Of course, we know that kitesurfing can also be a potentially extreme and risky sport. Riding in stronger winds and rougher seas can be incredibly thrilling, but the risks can also increase quickly.<\/span><\/p>\n
