2. Safety system

To kitesurf on the water, we’ll need a kite that ‘floats’. We call these kites tubekites. There is only 1 good way on how to setup a tubekite so have a look at this video to be sure you’re doing it the right way.

Tutorials: Step 2 – Bodydrag

During step 2 we focus on bodydragging. The goal of this exercise is to learn how to control a kite and to be able to get back to the beach in a safe way when you lose your board.

2. How to relaunch a kite

There’s a big chance that you will crash your kite during this lesson. The good news is that we can relaunch it without any problem. The key is to take your time for this!

Tutorials: Step 3/4/5 – Riding

1. Waterstart

Once you have total control over the kite and you know how to bodydrag. You’re ready to learn the waterstart!

2. How to trim a kite

On each kite you have a depower system. Thanks to this system, you will be able to trim your kite to have less/more power. Have a look at this video and learn how to do it yourself.

3. Riding upwind

The ultimate goal of kitesurfing is riding upwind. During step 4. We’ll try to get you to the point that you are able to ride some meters to the left / right. As a beginner you will still lose some hight. By focussing on your body position, you’ll get better in riding upwind so you don’t need to do the walk of shame anymore.

4. Transition

Once you can ride in both directions, it’s time to work on your transitions (changing direction without sinking down).
